I used to think I had it all figured out. Becoming an attending physician was my dream, and I had worked tirelessly to achieve it. On paper, I had everything I thought I wanted: a promising career, a new marriage, and a fresh start in an exciting city. But the truth? I was barely holding it together.
Every morning, I woke up feeling drained before the day had even begun. I cried on my commute to work, dreading the long hours ahead, only to force a smile when I walked through the clinic doors. I told myself, “Just push through. You’re strong. This will pass.” But it didn’t. I ignored the growing signs of burnout because I thought slowing down would mean I was failing.
I juggled the pressures of my new job, my new marriage, and the constant demand to perform at my best. No matter how much I accomplished, it felt like it was never enough. I convinced myself I would take care of myself later—but later never came.
Everything came crashing down.
For the first time, I couldn’t outrun the truth: I had been giving so much to everyone else that I had nothing left for myself. I was burned out, disconnected, and completely depleted—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Stepping away from work gave me time to breathe, but it also forced me to confront the reality of what I had become: someone I didn’t even recognize. I had been so focused on “doing” and achieving that I had lost touch with who I was. I was exhausted, cynical, and even ashamed. I had become obese, my self-esteem had plummeted, and I didn’t know how to break free from the cycle.
The hardest part wasn’t recovering physically—it was facing the emotional aftermath. I realized I had been running on autopilot for years, neglecting my health, ignoring my needs, and pretending everything was fine. Sitting with that reality was excruciating.
But it was also the turning point.
In those quiet moments of reflection, I realized something powerful: I didn’t want to live like this anymore. And even more importantly, I didn’t want anyone else to feel the way I did.
I sought help. I worked with a coach who helped me untangle the patterns that had led me to this breaking point. I began to understand how my need to always be strong, always succeed, and always push through had taken a toll on my body and mind. Slowly, I learned to prioritize myself—not just as a physician or a wife, but as a person.
As I healed, I started to notice something else: my story wasn’t unique. So many high-achieving professionals—just like me—were silently struggling. Behind their success were sleepless nights, chronic stress, and a deep sense of burnout. They were juggling careers, relationships, and responsibilities, often at the expense of their own health and happiness.
That realization was the spark that lit the fire for KWEIBA MEDICAL®.
